TRAVEL
How do I get to Victoria Outfitters?
Our lodge is accessible by vehicle and you may either drive from your home location or fly to one of the two airports nearby and use ground transportation from there. The destination is: Millertown.
DRIVING. Those driving will travel from their home location to North Sydney, NS to board the Marine Atlantic Ferry, travelling to Port-aux-Basque, NL. Rates and schedule can be found on their website, but the schedule is usually 11:30am and 11:30pm daily. The drive is then 5hrs to the town of Millertown where we meet.
FLYING. You can fly into either Gander International Airport or Deer Lake Regional Airport. The local taxi services are the best option for ground transport to Millertown and will take about 2 hrs (Gander) or 2 hrs 25 mins (Deer Lake).
How do I bring my firearms into Canada?
Whether you are driving or flying, you will need to complete a Non-Resident Firearms Declaration Form prior to reaching the border to bring your rifle to Canada. This document is provided by us upon your booking. You will keep the signed document with you for the duration of the hunt.
If you are flying, you will need to ensure you have ample time (at least 3 hours) for a layover at your point of entry into Canada.
Are there any reasons I may not be able to come to Canada?
Please be advised that there are some reasons you may be inadmissible to Canada which should be reviewed before you travel (including DUI). These can be found on the Gov of Canada website.

There is wifi available at the lodge and there is limited cell service outside of the lodge while you are in the field.
What meals and drinks are included?
Meals will include daily hot breakfast, packed lunch, and dinner. We also have many snacks and baked goods at the lodge, but if there is something you particularly like you are welcome to bring it in with you.
Alcohol is not included in the package, but you are welcome to bring that in as well.
Where do I get my hunting license and tags?
Licenses and export permits are included in your package and will be at the lodge upon your arrival. The license will then be given to you to keep on your person while in the field.
What weapons can I use?
You are able to use both rifle and bow during the regular hunting season. We are happy to discuss and make recommendations on your weapon and caliber, please ask us for information.
MEAT BUTCHERING & SHIPPING
We have a butcher nearby (Rick’s Meat Shop) who does vacuum-packed and labelled packages as well as deliver to the meat shipper (if needed). The shipper is Newfoundland Big Game Shipping. They deliver by reefer truck to a number of locations in the US (which can be found on their Facebook page).
Meat delivery to the butcher is included in your package and payment for butchering services is made to them directly (2023 price was $525 CAD). The 2023 prices for shipping were (per each 50lb box): $215 USD for the first box and $135 USD thereafter. There is also space at the lodge to debone or butcher your own meat if you prefer.
TAXIDERMY
Taxidermy services are arranged directly with the taxidermist but any antlers/cape/pelts will be delivered by us as part of your package. The taxidermist we use is Newfoundland Taxidermy Services.
